Sarracenia rubra ssp alabamensis, is truly an incredibly beautiful and rare Sarracenia. In the wild is restricted to a small area of sand hills in northern central Alabama where it grows in sandy soils at the edge of springs, seeps and streams.
Sarracenia rubra ssp. alabamensis, Chilton, Co, AL has sweetly scented red flowers. Plants produce pitchers which are tall and slender in the spring, followed by broader stocky pitchers during summer and absolutely stunning large beastly pitchers in the Fall that absolutely ooze nectar around the paeristome. A must have!
